Difficulty with going to sleep can be either physical or psychological in nature.
Anxiety, depression or acute stress disorder can cause one to have difficulty falling asleep.
Physical disorders, such as restless leg syndrome, is not life threatening.
Yet, it can disrupt the sleep pattern of both the sufferer and his or her partner.
Before you visit your doctor, try this breathing exercise.
1. With your mouth closed, inhale quietly through your nose while counting to four.
2. Hold your breath while counting to seven.
3. Exhale completely through your mouth. Listen to the whooshing sound while counting to eight.
4. Repeat this cycle three more times. It may take some practice before you finding it really relaxing your body.
