1. Medication
We rely on medication to keep us well. But, did you know some meds can make your blood sugar spike as well. Make sure your MD is aware if you are a diabetic. Regardless, ask your MD if any of your medications can raise your blood glucose.
2. Poor Sleep
We blame a lack of sleep for a lot of ills. Studies show that poor sleep can also lead to blood sugar spikes. Those people who only slept 4-6 hours a night experienced this the most.
3. Poor Mouth Care
That’s right. Research has shown gum disease is a complication of diabetes and can cause spikes in blood glucose. Worse, the gums can become infected and reach the bloodstream. Not only will this increase the sugar in the blood but an infection in the blood can be life threatening.
4. Poor Exercise Habits
Exercise can improve your blood sugar for up to 24 hours. Even 10 -15 minutes a day can make a difference.
