1.In The Early Days …

Eminem pretty much “just went with the flow.” He preferred cardio because he needed his lungs for both his songs and movements. He admits to working out a bit with Dre and Emanuel Steward, but going to the gym was not a priority. Drugs were.
2.Then, He Overdosed
In 2009, overdosed on Vicodin and Valium. As these drugs tend to irritate the stomach, he ate to soothe his indigestion. His weight ballooned to 230 pounds.
3.Initially, He Replaced One Addiction For Another
After he had been released, Eminem sought to lose weight. He started running but had an “addict’s brain” when it came to his exercise regimen. He lost weight but sustained injuries as he climbed to 17 miles a day.
4.Eminem Recognized He Had To Change His Exercise Routine
He ran less and discovered DVD workout videos. One of his favorites was Shaun T’s Insanity Workout. Eminem found motivation with someone yelling at him. He also found them fun. So, the songwriter started altering his exercise regimen, using both the DVD and running.
5.Now, 7 Years Later, Eminem Is Sober And Fit
He reports that every morning before going to the studio, he bench presses, uses free weights and the pull-up bar. This guy admits he still hates doing pull-ups. But, like everyone else, “you have to do what you have to do.”
