Trying to lose that belly fat? It takes more than just working out. You have to know what you’re eating as well.
1.Potato Products
In a study that followed over 120,000 men and women over 20 years. Participants gained over 3 pounds every 4 year period. The main culprit, potatoes and chips.
2.Frosting … And Other Trans Fats
Monkeys were divided into 2 groups. One group was fed a diet of unsaturated fats, another with trans fats. The monkeys in the latter group increased their body weight by 7.2% in 6 years. The other group, they only gained 1.8%. So, avoid those pre-made baked goodies, snack food and frozen pizzas.
3.Diet Soda
Zero calories do NOT equate to zero belly fat. People who drank diet soda gained almost 3 times the amount of abdominal fat over 9 years as those who did not. (This particular study tested those age 65 and older.) Another study, using mice, found those who were fed artificial sweeteners, were found to develop insulin resistance and glucose intolerance … 2 things that increase weight gain.
4.Red/Processed Meats
A study done by the New England Journal Of Medicine showed that people who ate more red and processed meat gained about an extra pound every 4 years.
5.Refined Grains
Avoid refined grains such as white bread, white pasta and white rice. A study by Pennsylvania State University found that those who ate plenty of veggies, fruits and unrefined grains lost more abdominal weight than those who ate the same fruits and veggies, but refined grains.
