The goal of RESISTANCE training is to build muscle and endurance. You do this by using weights, weight machines or resistance bands.

CARDIO training, on the other hand, aims to increase your heart rate. Each person has their own targeted heart rate, the result is to burn calories and and fat. This is done by some sort of rhythmic exercise.

Let’s look at how many calories are burned in a 60 minute period.

  • You’ll burn more calories during 60 minutes with cardio.
  • With weight lifting, you’ll burn less in that 60 minutes but continue to burn calories after the 60 minutes is up.

Weight lifting will also build muscle.
