Obesity is an issue that knows no boundaries.

But you might be surprised to find out that U.S. residents are not number one.

A scientist from the World Health Organization studied 188 countries.

Three small Pacific nations, Tonga, Samoa and Kiribati, came in first.

These were followed by a number of Middle Eastern countries, such as Qatar, Kuwait, and Libya.

Mexico, Turkey, Chili and Iceland also scored higher than the U.S.

In fact, the U.S. came in 28th!

Data was based on a body mass index of 25 or above.

Many people that are obese do not realize that obesity is a disease.

Others do not seek treatment because they fear it is too expensive.

But, in the long run, obesity can become very expensive as it brings on a number of health problems.
