You know how you feel better when you breathe in that ocean air? Scientists are actually studying the mechanisms behind that. Why do we seem to thrive when we get away to the ocean or forest?
1. In Japan, It’s Called “Forest Bathing.”
These diverse ecosystems (forest / ocean) give way to a varied and beneficial community living all around (and within) us. Scientists are studying how our bodies actively and positively communicate with nature.
2. It’s No Accident We Feel Better When We Connect With Nature
How does this work? Scientists are not sure. It could be that when we get out, we tend to walk longer, eat better, and sleep more soundly.
3. More Study Is Needed
Scientists are beginning to find increasing evidence that suggests we make sure our children get their share of “green” space to help their physical and mental well-being. The bottom line is when we nurture our environment, we nurture our children.
