4.Spinach: This plant is good for your bones, hair and skin. A native plant of Persia, it was grown there over 2,000 years ago. Now, it’s grown all over the world. In fact, the U.S. is the world’s biggest exporter of spinach.

5.Garlic: Rich in many vitamins and minerals, this vegetable is used throughout the world to fight illness and promote good health. In the U.S, garlic is grown in every state but Alaska. It’s also popular in India, South Korea, and Egypt.

6.Salmon: Look for wild varieties versus farm-fed salmon to get the best source of protein.

7.Walnuts: This is one of the oldest known foods in the world. They are eaten throughout the world as a snack or added to meals and are believed to be of medicinal value. The English walnut originated in Persia; while the black walnut is from North America

8.Avocado: Records show avocados have been cultivated since around 8,000 B.C. They were a favorite of the Aztecs.

9.Apples: An American favorite, these are low in calories and high in benefits.

10.Almonds: These nuts may be small but have plenty of proteins and antioxidants. Their trees are native to the Middle East, North Africa, and the Indian Subcontinent.
